GENERAL SUMMARY
The Buyer / Planner performs activities such as material procurement, production planning, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection and distribution activities for assigned product lines. Participates cost saving project and standard cost activities.

Plans and prepares manufacturing production schedules and departmental workflows to establish sequence and lead time of each production operation to meet shipping dates according to customer orders. Plans, schedules and monitors inbound movement of materials from suppliers, determines material requirements and coordinates the efficient movement of materials with production and project management/engineering. Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and contracts with suppliers and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a weekly Master Production Schedule, production planning reports and shipping requirements in conjunction with the Sales, Project Management/Engineering & the Production Manager
- Schedule customer orders in line with material availability and manned capacity and work to customer requests
- Action MRP, shortages, kanban requirements and requests from Project management/engineering in order to support both Killarney production and capital projects supply requirements
- Liaise closely with the Production Manager & Project Management/Engineering in order to support materials requirements on a daily basis
- Act as frontline supplier manager for the supply base related to product line. Expedite / de-expedite material as required
- Micro manages intercompany and third party suppliers
- Send out supplier performance reports quarterly
- Organise, track and schedule delivery of raw materials in line with EHS requirements to Killarney/external provider
- Work with sister & third party companies to plan and meet order requirements
- Manage cost reduction projects to fruition on purchased items and supply chain lean initiatives
- Manage inventory reduction projects to reach agreed targets
- Support implementation of Kanban, (Co Managed Inventory), (Vendor Managed Inventory) & e-commerce initiatives on portfolio of spend
- Obtain quotations and lead times and manage supplier transitions to achieve agreed percentage reduction in the number of suppliers/cost to the business
- Manage sourcing of raw material supply to include new supplier negotiation and agreements
- Measure supplier performance to agreed (Key Performance Indicators) K.P.I's.
Manage quality issues with suppliers (and with site quality lead as required) to closure through SCAR process and co-ordinate disposition of MRB material
- Measure and review Purchase Price Variance weekly
- Approve invoices (including duty) for payment & resolve invoice queries with suppliers as they occur
- Hold quarterly business reviews with key suppliers
- Participate in cross functional teams as required by management from time to time
- Support yearly standard cost setting exercise
- Role model the Company values
- Travel within Ireland and abroad as required to perform the role and attend CELEROS meetings
- Other duties as may be required

Education and Experience:
- Qualified to diploma/degree level in a business or technical discipline or an appropriate combination of qualifications and work experience
- APICS CPIM and or IIPMM Cert/Dip qualification part of fully qualified is desirable
- Experience as a Buyer/ Planner in a manufacturing environment
- Experience of ERP systems
- Experience of WCM/JIT/TQM manufacturing philosophies and practices
- Advanced user experience of desktop applications like MS Excel, Access and PowerPoint
